Science fiction and fantasy convention Finncon is a globally known brand. The event gathers thousands of fans and professionals every year. The convention attendees have a large age veriaty, from 10 to 80! The general attendee is 25-45 years old, and are big consumers of techology, media, especially games, computers and movies.

The professional profile of the convention is highly educated, often IT professionals, teaching or reseracher professionals, or creative artists, designers, testers and users of art, culture, techonoly. The national fan network is very international: for example it was a major influence on presenting manga and anime to Finns.

Finncon has always had mahor publicity in the top medias, locally, nationally and internationally. The convention is floating so it is held in differend cities, and in Jyväskylä it is part of the Jyväskylä Arts Festival, which also is a great marketing asset. Science fiction and fantsy as a genre have taken over all media – so much so that research points it to be mainstream.
